Here are some photos taken of the light rail in Newcastle. There are six stops. Newcastle Interchange, Honeysuckle, Civic, Crown St, Queens Wharf and Newcastle Beach. The service is quite frequent even late at night. You will notice there are no overhead wires. The pantograph goes up each time the vehicle stops at a station and recharges the batteries.
Here are some pictures taken on a recent trip to Newcastle. As you are probably aware the area around the old Newcastle station has been re-developed. The station and signal box have been preserved all be it re-developed. The upstairs section of the signal box has been preserved and can be viewed when the restaurant below is open. A light rail runs adjacent and photos of the light rail are in another post.
